Khabarindiaonline: Rescue and relief operations are in full swing in the cyclonic storm Titli hit coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. The National Disaster Response Force, NDRF has deployed 14 teams in Odisha, four teams in Andhra and three teams in West Bengal along with necessary rescue equipments.
In, Andhra Pradesh, Seven persons were killed due to rain related incidents in Srikakulam district. In the Ganjam District of Odisha, six persons have been washed away in current of one tributary of River Rushikulya.
The storm Titli hit the coast early this morning at South Gopalpur of Odisha and near Palasa of Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh with a wind speed of 142 to 150 KM per hour. More than 3 lakh people have been shifted to multipurpose cyclonic shelters at different places in Odisha.
As the cyclonic storm is moving towards West Bengal heavy to normal rain are expected in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts in Andhra Pradesh. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
President Ram Nath Kovind in a tweet said that entire nation is with the affected people and said local authorities and relief agencies will rise to occasion to help fellow citizens. ( Source: AIRN ).
