President Ram Nath Kovind calls for robust health care to expecting mother and newly born in the making of a strong nation

Khabarindiaonline:   President Ram Nath Kovind has stressed upon the good health of expecting mothers and the newly born children as they are the pivot of the strong nation. Addressing the International Conference on Women Health, Wellness and Empowerment in Kanpur today, he said that healthy family makes a healthy nation.

The President said that even though the girl children face more restrictions in our society in comparison to boys they are still surging ahead in many areas, with determination and skill. He said, this is a welcome trend and must be encouraged. Mr Kovind emphasized the need to spread awareness among masses about the ongoing government schemes which are being run for their welfare.

Referring to Ayushman Bharat health assurance programme, the President said, the scheme envisages providing health coverage to socially and economically disadvantaged sections. He said that with a potential to help over 10 crore families and 50 crore citizens, it is the world’s largest healthcare programme. Mr Kovind said that under Swachh Bharat scheme, 8.5 crore toilets have been constructed and 5 lakh villages have become Open defecation free in the country.

Addressing another seminar by Talent Development council at Chandra shekhar Azad university of Agricultural and Technology, Mr.Kovind said value added education is important for national building. He said, India always gave message of love and culture to the world. He also unveiled the statue of the late freedom fighter Shyamlal Parshad in Kanpur.

Later in the evening, the President inaugurated the 4th India International Science Festival- IISF 2018 in Lucknow. Addressing the Conference, Mr. Kovind laid stress on the importance of theoretical research. He urged the scientific community to encourage budding researchers and students so that they can excel in various scientific fields.

The President said that a large number of scientists have returned to India to pursue their dreams. He said that over 900 patents were applied by Indian Startups last year. Mr. Kovind said that India’s Investment in Research and Development programmes will be more than 83 billion dollars during this year.

Union minister of Science and Technology, Dr Harsh Vardhan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present on this occasion. The festival is being organised by the Ministry of Science & Technology, the Ministry of Earth Sciences and Vijnana Bharati. ( Source: AIRN ).
