Khabarindiaonline: Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh today inaugurated 10 KW FM Transmitter of All India Radio at Patnitop in Jammu. AIR DirectorGeneral Fayyaz Sheheryar and other senior officers of All India Radiowere present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Jitendra Singh said, in the era ofmushrooming TV channels, All India Radio has managed to maintain itscredibility and people still have unflinching faith and trust in the AIR news.
Dr Singh said, with the commissioning of this Relay Transmitter atPatnitop, the maximum area of Jammu and Kashmir especially high reaches andremote areas of the State, will now be able to listen to the Radio Programmesmore clearly.
He said, the commissioning of this relay transmitter has fulfilledthe long pending demand of the people of the vast area who were not able tolisten to programmes and news broadcast from Radio Kashmir, Jammu.
Union Minister said the people living in remote and mountainous areasof the J&K will now be able to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’sMann Ki Baat programme. Dr. Jitendra Singh said All India Radio canplay a key role in countering the malicious propaganda being unleashed fromacross the border by some anti-national elements and mischief makers.
Earlier, in his welcome address Director General of All IndiaRadio, Fayyaz Sheheryar said that credit for 10 KW FM transmitter atPatnitop and upcoming FM Radio Station at Udhampur goes to Dr. JitendraSingh.
He said that though setting up of FM station at Udhampur was notincluded in the 12th plan, but the minister managed to get special funds forthe station at Udhampur. AIR DG expressed the hope that the Station at Udhampurwill be commissioned before the end of this year. ( Source: AIRN ).
